Performs specialized cardiovascular procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, including but not limited to: records hemodynamic pressures and computerized data, operates special X-Ray equipment, burns c.d. s, assists the invasive/interventional cardiologist and Vascular Surgeon with procedures using sterile technique and has knowledge of cardiac medications.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES AND PERFORMANCE CRITERIA:
1.Demonstrates good communication skills:
2.Scrubs with the invasive/interventional cardiologist or Vascular Surgeon on all procedures.
3.Assists in emergency procedures necessary for prompt control of changes in patient s physical condition.
4.Monitors EKG and gathers hemodynamic data to provide calculations as requested by the cardiologist.
5.Keeps abreast of changing techniques in cardiac catheterization laboratory procedures and maintains a high level of expertise.
6.Accepts responsibility that all necessary supplies, and equipment in the procedure room are available and in proper working condition.
7.Cross-trains in other job functions of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Electrophysiology Lab, as needed.
8.Assists with the Quality Improvement Program of the Department.
9.Adheres to federal and state radiation safety guidelines and regulations regarding patient and operator protection, collimation, and shielding.
10.Demonstrates the ability to adapt to varied age-specific patient populations
11.Responsible for complying with all policies and procedures that pertain to HIPAA including the minimum necessary requirements for this job position.
12.Performs and fulfills all HICS (hospital incident command system) responsibilities, assignments, tasks, and roles as directed and needed by the facility in times of emergency and/or disaster. Responsible for knowing the Hospital s emergency codes, including the purpose and appropriate action for each, and adheres to the Hospital policies and procedures for each emergency code.)Accepts/participates on assigned Team for Hurricane response.
13.Assists in the containment of hospital costs through the appropriate usage and conversation of supplies and equipment.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (including required licenses/certifications, education and job knowledge/experience):
Graduate of accredited program in Radiology Technology, or Equivalent or
Graduate of accredited Cardiovascular Invasive program or equivalent (CCI)
One year Interventional Lab experience required;
One year experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, preferred.
Radiologic Technology Registration/Licensure as required (ARRT)
RCIS within 12 months of hire required.
Field of expertise: Cardiac Catheterization, American Heart Association BLS/ACLS Certification, Interventional Cardiac Catheterization and or EP experience is preferred.
Effective oral and written communication skills in the English language.
Able to perform effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment.
