About the Job
- Central Services - Materials
- Receive and issue internal orders for stock and non-stock items insuring that:
- Order are delivered in a timely manner. Minimum order quantities are met
- Order for emergencies are expedited immediately to ensure patient care needs are met
- Assist with the maintenance of the computerized inventory control system, so that it accurately reflects activity in real time as needed
- Provide effective communication with departments served concerning late deliveries, substitutes, and back orders
- Work with Central staff personnel to review daily discrepancies of inventory
- Assist with annual physical inventory
- Assist or relieve co-workers during illness or vacations
- All products, equipment, and supplies must be delivered with-in 10 minutes of a call, stats must be delivered immediately
- Receive and issue internal orders for stock and non-stock items insuring that:
- Central Service - Sterilization
- Insure that the processing system for instrumentation is maintained, inspections are done, policies are followed in conjunction with the Central Service Lead on a daily basis
- Insure that sterilization logs, records, biologics, tapes and books are updated and accurate on a daily basis
- Lowest Unit of Measure support (LUM)
- Inventory medical supply carts in the Hospital and replenishes supplies upon delivery of product from consolidated warehouse
- Pull medical product for LUM from CS inventory on weekends
- Conduct inventory via handheld scanner and data will be downloaded into Meditech at designated download station
- Documentation/Information Management
- Demonstrate working knowledge of the Hospital Information System (Meditech)
- Leadership/Supervision
- Staffing levels require Tech II's to occasionally work in the department by themselves while other staff is out making hospital rounds. They must be able to prioritize tasks themselves
- Assist with special projects as assigned by Central Services Supervisor and/or Distribution Manager

- Demonstrate interest in self-improvement and professional development by attending classes, workshops, and seminars
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and shift supervisors to provide continuity of information and care on all shifts

- Adhere to and support unit objective consistent with the hospital's strategic plan, Mission Effectiveness, hospital CORE Values, and Materials Management goals and objectives
- Budgetary
- Maintain equipment issued to floors insuring that they are replaced, collected and issued in accordance with practices to limit damage and loss as well as provide safe equipment for patient care
- Must have successfully completed a recognized Central Service Technician course and keep Continuing Education Units (CEU) updated and on file
- 2 years experience in Central Service
- Experience in general office practices and procedures, purchasing practices, business ethics and prudent buyer concepts
- Knowledge of computerized inventory management
- Ability to communicate effectively with people served
- Knowledge of Sterilization procedures to include all state regulations, CDC recommendations, and ARON standards
