The RUMC Certified Peer Specialist position helps to engage patients struggling with mental health issues by offering a supportive approach in the recovery process through lived experience, sympathy and education in the available mental health RUMC programs.
Under the supervision of an licenses professional who has been trained in the supervision of a peer specialist, the peer specialist will provide support and encouragement to clients about to engage in n mental health treatment or already involved in mental health treatment.
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
Must have certification as a New York State peer specialist.
Scope of Responsibility
Works under the supervision of a licensed professional trained in supervision of peers.
Does not supervise others unless authorized to do so by the supervisor.
Support a recovery style, engagement in treatment and community involvement, independence and productivity for clients with mental health issues
Minimum of 1 year experience as a peer specialist or equivalent strongly preferred.
