Akron Children’s Hospital has an outstanding opportunity for a Chair of the Department of Pediatric Orthopedics!The Chair will work collaboratively with hospital administration, clinical staff and the Medical Staff Officers to achieve the enterprise’s strategic vision, objectives and operating goals.The ideal candidate will have outstanding leadership and management capabilities with excellent clinical expertise and experience.A demonstrated track record of results and fostering an environment of diversity and inclusion with a team of faculty, staff, residents and students is a key requirement.The candidate will have completed a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery Fellowship and will be Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery with a minimum of 10 years of post-training clinical experience. The physician leader must be able to acquire an active medical license in the State of Ohio and pursue academic appointment at the rank of Associate or full Professor at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED).
He/she will be responsible for the continuing growth of the Department by ensuring that the fundamentals of superior quality, clinical and operational efficiency and disciplined financial management are in place.The Chair will develop and define a vision for the Department, implement quality of care initiatives, supervise departmental educational activities, and implement strategies aligned with Akron Children’s Hospital.
The current department is a clinical/academic style practice with strong subspecialty programs and research collaboration with local universities.There are currently 11 Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeons and 11 Advance Practice Providers in the Department.The volume of surgical cases in 2019 was nearly 2,715 complimented by 38,731 ambulatory visits.The group also provides Pediatric Orthopedic training for 7 residency programs and has a combined pediatric orthopedic fellowship in conjunction with the Cleveland Clinic Department of Pediatric Orthopedics.
