To provide the provision of quality anesthesia care to all patients in accordance with guidelines set forth by the JCAHO, AANA, and the rules and regulations set by DHEC and the SC Board of Nursing. Works in conjunction with Director, Anesthesia Services, on financial and administrative aspects of departmental management. Maintains clinical competency by providing anesthesia care to all patients and by obtaining continuing education credits.

Manage department human resources by: determining qualifications, competence and performance expectations; implementing and monitoring staffing plans; providing orientation, in-service training and continuing education of all persons in the department and applying policies/procedures pertaining to human resources management.
Provide effective leadership by coordinating and integrating services within their department, with other departments and with the hospital's primary functions.
Manage information by providing information systems and data management for department operations and performance improvement.
Manage the environment (of care) by developing, implementing and monitoring processes to reduce and control environmental hazards and risks; preventing accidents and injuries and maintaining safe conditions for patients, staff and visitors.
Continuously assess and improve the department's performance by designing operational processes, monitoring performance through data, analyzing the data, implementing sustainable performance improvement, and participating in multi-disciplinary inter-departmental PI activities.
Implement policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of the services.
Manage departmental budget including processes to monitor operational and capital costs.
Education: Graduate of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia Program required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Experience: Master's degree required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Number and Type of Employees Supervised: Licensed and non-licensed personnel
Licensure, Registry or Certification Required: Licensure as a RN and CRNA in South Carolina as well as Certification by the Council on Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists. Current BLS (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers) required prior to start date directly through the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association, or the military. (To register: Blended Learning or In Person BLS through theAmerican Red Cross; or Classroom or Skills Session BLS through theAmerican Heart Association. Certification must include an in-person skills session.)
Special Training: Must have completed training as a CRNA. Must demonstrate experience in coordinating, planning, directing and evaluation of patient care. Must demonstrate effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
