MITRE seeks a seasoned Artificial Intelligence leader as Chief Scientist for Artificial Intelligence Adoption to join MITREs Data & Human-Centered Solutions Technical Center leadership team and support MITREs most critical missions and challenges. The individual will work with both internal and external players to understand the market landscape of AI and provide thought leadership as sponsor and stakeholder organizations incorporate AI into their systems and missions.
The Chief Scientists for AI Adoption will report into the Data and Human Centered Solutions Technical Center and be an integral member of the Vice President, Technical Centers leadership team. S/he will provide credible and useful technical and programmatic advice for AI adoption for very senior leaders and stakeholders (e.g., general officers, government senior executive staff) while inspiring and MITRE technical engagement strategy by way of their deep expertise in one or more AI technologies.
The role can be located at one of the two larger MITRE offices in Bedford, MA (close to Boston) and McLean, VA (close to DC).
The ideal candidate for this role will be a charismatic leader with a progressive career as exhibited by increasing technical responsibility and focus in artificial intelligence. S/he would have ideally worked with government agencies or departments. The individual must have excellent verbal and written communications as well as be able to obtain a US security clearance.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
Technology professional with 15 years of experience in one or more areas of Artificial Intelligence i.e. machine learning, cognitive computing, natural language processing, data science, knowledge representation, virtual agent, robotics, etc. Experience building a vision and actionable strategy for new generational technologies
Successful track record of building high-performing AI product/solutions, with contributions that span architecture to hands-on implementation.
Demonstrates a holistic view of Technology and delivers a compelling vision of how AI can contribute to growth and performance across industries
Strong written and verbal communication skills to ensure getting key technical points across to colleagues, sponsors, and business leadership
PhD or other advanced degree in Computer Science, Cognitive/Data Science, and/or Mathematics/Statistics
Eminence and reputation within the industry / academia
Building and Managing High Performance Teams
Exceptional leadership skills, which result in attracting, retaining and developing top talent; ability to direct, motivate and empower teams through a persuasive and credible presentation style
