About the Job
Summary: Operates and maintains stationary chiller / boiler plant and mechanical equipment such as steam / HW generating boilers, air compressors, generators, motors, turbines, chillers to provide utilities such as light, heat, or power for buildings and industrial processes by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Reads meters and gauges or automatic recording devices at specified intervals to verify operating conditions.
Records data such as temperature of equipment, hours of operation, fuel consumed, temperature or pressure, water levels, analysis of flue gases, voltage load and generator balance.
Adjusts manual controls or overrides automatic controls to bring equipment into recommended or prescribed operating ranges, switch to backup equipment or systems, or to shut down equipment.
Visually inspects equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustment or lubrication.
Maintains equipment by tightening fittings, repacking bearings, replacing packing glands, gaskets, valves, recorders, and gauges, and cleaning or replacing burners or other components.
Oils and lubricates equipment.
Performs water titration tests and pours chemical additives, such as water softener, into treatment tank to prevent scale buildup and to clean boiler lines, open and closed loops.
Records operation and maintenance actions taken during shift in operators’ logbook.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Leads operating engineers HVAC Techs and or helpers in the Campus Plant Operations. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, said staff. Also directly plant performance. Carries out plant supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Education and/or Experience
Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Recognized Stationary Engineer or Master Level Steam Fitter or other Skilled Trade Master Designation.
Current Drivers License
Formal Credentials in Plant Operations Management
Other Skills and Abilities
Strong Familiarity with Plant Optimization and Commissioning
Experience in Utility Tracking and Analysis
Highly experienced in building control automation systems with emphasis on native BACnet and Johnson Metasys
