We are looking to fill multiple positions and will consider a variety of experience levels. If you have a passion for transportation engineering and would like to bring your career to the next level, this role will provide entry level individuals with the opportunity to learn and grow. More experienced candidates will have the opportunity to expand their project repertoire and enhance their leadership skills. **Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities** : + Work on project teams as a design engineer, reporting to a project manager. Design engineering would include field investigations, analysis, calculations, and preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates + Prepare geometric alignments of railways and prepare cross-sections and earthwork quantities from survey files + Prepare related civil designs of roadways and underground utilities + Generate drainage overlays and drawings + Review contractor submittals + Perform field visits during construction to review conformance to project plans and specifications **Qualifications:** **Technical Skills:** + Experience with Bentley Microstation V8i, Bentley Inroads (Group V8i), and Bentley OpenRoads preferred + Also must be able to pass e-Railsafe security background check **Education/Experience:** + Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with appropriate course work in the civil/transportation discipline required + EIT preferred + Master's degree in civil engineering a plus + Railroad engineering coursework or training a plus **Soft Skills:** + Must be able to communicate complex technical concepts to engineers, clients, candidates and/or public stakeholders + Must be able to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders + Must be able to work independently and as a team member to problem solve and learn new technical skills **Working at Hanson:** + Must be able to collaborate with colleagues in other offices via phone, email and web-conference software such as Skype + Must be willing to work overtime to meet project demands and deadlines when needed + Must be willing to accept occasional out-of-town travel assignments to meet project demands As employers/governmental contractors, we comply with government regulations, including affirmative action responsibilities where they apply.
