Aclinical exercise physiologist in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation has responsibility, authority, and accountability for the quality care of cardiac and pulmonary patients and will serve as a role model by integrating the components of clinician, patient educator, and consultant.
The percentage of time spent performing essential functions is 95%. Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:
Ability to provide cardiac risk factor education.
Assistance with referring discharged patients to outpatient cardiac rehabilitation programs near their homes.
Demonstrates competency in practice and knowledge of current standards of practice.
Demonstrates appropriate response to change in patients’ clinical status.
Demonstrates leadership in the conducting of exercise classes.
Prevents patient injury on exercise equipment by demonstration proper body position and use of equipment.
Performs related duties as required.
Able to work appropriately with persons of varies ages, racial, ethnic and sociological backgrounds.
Evaluates, records, and monitors participant’s progress and status through utilization of taking heart rates, blood pressures, rating of perceived exertion, and participant’s communication of signs and symptoms.
Informs physicians of patients’ status in writing and/or phone calls as appropriate.
Monitors patients during Cardiac/Respiratory Codes by blood pressures, heart rates and telemetry.
Present lectures on all aspects of exercises that are utilized during educational classes to patients.
Knowledge of exercise equipment utilized in the department: UBE, bicycles, steppers, rowers, weight machines, dumbbells, and treadmills.
Assists with Health Fairs as needed.
Assists with continuing education programs as needed.
The percentage of time spent performing secondary functions is 5%. The following duties are considered secondary to the essential duties listed above:

Master’s degree in clinical exercise physiology required.
Clinical experience in a cardiac rehab program
Must communicate with provider
