About the role
Zillow is looking for a Closer to help grow the Zillow Offers start-up business in our Phoenix headquarters! You will be managing single-family home acquisition and resale transactions from open escrow through diligence review and closing documentation, as well as supporting various central operations functions. The Closer will be an integral part of the Zillow Offers team, working closely with investments, treasury, legal, utilities, compliance, HOA, insurance, renovations, title/escrow, mortgage and broker/agent professionals, to execute a seamless experience for home sellers and purchasers. You will:
Manage both acquisition and resale transactions in multiple jurisdictions across several states
Provide transaction oversight from contract execution through closing, operations integration, and resale efforts
Manage critical deadlines and use business judgment to protect the company’s investments, limit exposure and maximize returns
Anticipate and solve for deal complications; remove transaction roadblocks to prevent delays and maximize efficiency
Direct collection, review and execution of all documents and data required for diligence, closings, onboarding and offboarding of assets including, but not limited to:
Reviewing and approving contracts and addenda, open escrow, earnest money requests, diligence items, HOA documents and restrictions, title commitments, taxes, leases, and disclosures
Manage title partners and assist in curative efforts to ensure clean title.
Direct analysis and manage feedback loop with underwriting and asset management to modify deals mid-transaction and accurately record asset data during and following transactions.
Review, verify and approve closing packages including but not limited to:
HUD-1/ settlement statements, taxes, prorations, closing costs, title policies, escrow instructions, commissions, credits, concessions, and deeds
Manage closing wire requests and provide title/escrow with final approval to close transactions
Communicate effectively and accurately to both internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and achievement of goals and closings and central operations functions including but not limited to:
Information management, data integrity and document delivery; utility services activation and deactivation, insurance and compliance matters, and credit facility or other financing efforts
Provide updates and manage communication with agents, title officers, treasury, renovations, and centralized operations team including updating systems to reflect purchases and sales
Identify and manage any issues that arise with buyers, sellers, paperwork, internal or external parties
Who you are
Knowledgeable in residential real estate transactions (3+ years)
Project management skills
Real estate transaction management experience
Must possess a customer-focused attitude
Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills
High attention-to-detail and ability to multitask opposing priorities at high volume
Focused, reliable, and a self-starter with strong critical-thinking skills
Ability to work quickly and accurately in a dynamic environment
