CNC Machinist -

Under no supervision, generates computer programs for CNC Mill and lathe applications using Virtual Gibbs’ and other related computer software (i.e. DOS, Windows, AutoCAD, etc.). Maintains daily log and files of program generated for tracking part history and revisions. Checks drawings for proper geometry and corrects as necessary.
Setups – Operates CNC machines turning and milling centers.
Generates CAM programs and tool lists without supervision.
Maintains daily log files and databases to track CAM programs, revision, and history for all jobs programmed.
May collaborate with Engineering and/or Drafting to clarify drawing to be programmed.
Will instruct others on CAM techniques when requested.
Notifies appropriate personnel of any known operation or process irregularities.
Maintains programming area and equipment; keeps work area safe, clean, and orderly.
Reads, understands and adheres to Shop Safety Regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Fulfills all Machinist Classification No. 1013 (or higher), education and experience requirements.
Must have specialized training in shop mathematics, or equivalent experience.
Minimum of two (2) years experience in operating various shop equipment.
Courses in CNC, CAD/CAM, DOS and Widows required.
Must be able to demonstrate understanding of mechanical blueprints.
Must be familiar with cutting characteristics of various metals.
