TITLE: Roofing Mechanic

EMPLOYMENT CATEGORY: Full time

REPORTS TO: Crew Leader

OBJECTIVE/MISSION:

Work on roofs in a SAFE manner completing all tasks and phases of re-roofing and new roofing construction. You are a tradesman and continually improve your skills to master your trade.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work in a SAFE manner at all times.
• Use Personal Protective Equipment and complete basic safety setups.
• Safely handle all material.
• Layout all equipment and material as instructed.
• Own and properly use hand tools per Best Roofing policy.
• Safely operate all power tools as instructed.
• Maintain a clean and organized jobsite.
• Safely tear off old roof and material as instructed.
• Have satisfactory attendance and punctuality.
• Always in uniform.
• Knows how to probe seams on single ply installations.
• Act as a competent person/Safety Monitor as required.
• Ability to perform basic torching, heat welding, and metal installation.
• Properly layout and install insulation.
• Properly install flashing, roof drains, and termination bar.
• Properly flash penetrations and wrap pipes.
• Properly apply adhesive to specifications for the project.
• Safely operate all power equipment as instructed.
• Properly set up safety on your projects.
• Properly install crickets per specification.
• Properly layout and install tapered insulation.
• Effectively tie in new roof to existing roof – no leaks.
• Effective use of robots, hand leisters, and Rhinobond machines for advanced heat welding tasks.
• Effective use of the torch for advanced modified bitumen installation.
• Understand and efficiently follow fastening patterns.
• Understand and efficiently install various single ply, modified bitumen, and waterproofing materials/systems.
• Properly install metal, gutters, and downspouts.
• Attend Best Roofing sponsored learning sessions to advance your skills.
• Adhere to Best Roofing Fundamentals.
• Follow your steps within the 31 Steps of a Construction Project as instructed.
• Have fun and make money!

KEY RESULTS:

• Successfully complete all tasks and duties with highest safety, quality, and productivity per Best Roofing standards.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Demonstrable experience working on roofs with tools to complete roofing projects required.
• CERTA torch certification required.
• OSHA 10 certification required.
• Demonstrable experience removing and installing commercial roof systems required.
• Demonstrable experience torching and heat welding roof material required.
• Ability to work at heights on flat and inclined surfaces year-round in Florida weather required – roofers work on roofs.
• Ability to climb ladders and set up work requirements in a safe manner required.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions required.
• Ability to lift material, tools, and equipment constantly throughout the day required to complete the job.
• High school diploma or equivalent, vocational school certificate of completion, experience in roofing construction/installation/operations, or a combination of the above. 

COMPENSATION:

• $18/HR and up paid weekly depending on experience.

• Poseer y usar adecuadamente las herramientas manuales según la política de Best Roofing.
• Opere con seguridad todas las herramientas eléctricas según las instrucciones.
• Mantenga un lugar de trabajo limpio y organizado.
• Quite con seguridad el techo y el material viejos según las instrucciones.
• Tener asistencia satisfactoria y puntualidad.
• Siempre en uniforme.
• Sabe cómo probar costuras en instalaciones de una sola capa.
• Actuar como una persona competente / monitor de seguridad según sea necesario.
• Capacidad para realizar sopletes básicos, soldadura térmica e instalación de metal.
• Correctamente el diseño e instalación de aislamiento.
• Instale correctamente el tapajuntas, los desagües del techo y la barra de terminación.
• Correctamente flash penetraciones y tubos de envoltura.
• Aplique adhesivo correctamente a las especificaciones del proyecto.
• Opere con seguridad todo el equipo de potencia según las instrucciones.
• Configurar adecuadamente la seguridad en sus proyectos.
• Instalar correctamente los grillos por especificación.
• Correctamente el diseño e instalación de aislamiento cónico.
• Ate con eficacia el techo nuevo al techo existente - sin fugas.
• Uso efectivo de robots, mano de obra y máquinas Rhinobond para tareas avanzadas de soldadura térmica.
• Uso efectivo de la antorcha para la instalación avanzada de betún modificado.
• Comprenda y siga eficientemente los patrones de fijación.
• Comprenda e instale de manera eficiente varios materiales / sistemas de impermeabilización, bitumen modificado y de una sola capa.
• Instale correctamente el metal, las canaletas y las bajantes.
• Asista a las sesiones de aprendizaje patrocinadas de Best Roofing para mejorar sus habilidades.

• Posibilidad de subir escaleras y establecer requisitos de trabajo de manera segura.
• Capacidad de comprender y seguir instrucciones orales y escritas requeridas.
• Capacidad para levantar material, herramientas y equipos constantemente durante todo el día requerido para completar el trabajo.
• Diploma de escuela secundaria o equivalente, certificado de finalización de la escuela vocacional, experiencia en construcción / instalación / operaciones de techado, o una combinación de los anteriores.

• $18/hora y hasta pagado semanalmente dependiendo de la experiencia.
