|Working Title||Counselor/Social Worker,Sr|
Counseling Services at UNM Student Health and Counseling (SHAC), is recruiting for a Clinical Counselor/Clinical Social Worker for a half-time position (20 hours per week) at the UNM Valencia Branch.
This position provides specialized clinical services (assessment, diagnosis, and brief therapy), consultation, and psycho-educational outreach to UNM branch campus students and will consult to the Student Affairs committee regarding students of concern. This position may require occasional after-hours service. The position will be located at the Valencia campus but administratively and clinically connected to the Counseling Services of Student Health and Counseling located on the main campus in Albuquerque. New Mexico licensure as an LPCC, or LISW is minimally required.
Strong mental health clinical skills are a must, especially in the areas of psychotherapy with high functioning, highly intelligent and goal oriented diverse clients, with crisis assessment and intervention, and brief treatment with evidence-based methods. Expertise in mindfulness based interventions, substance use disorders, and brief consultation is also key. The candidate must be credentialed prior to beginning employment.
UNM-Valencia is a branch campus of the University of New Mexico, a 2 year public university located just South of Albuquerque, New Mexico in Los Lunas. There are 2,236 students enrolled in the Fall of 2019. The high altitude and relatively mild weather affords many year-round recreational opportunities. |Conditions of Employment|
Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or an equivalent field; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Certification/Licensure Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) or equivalent OR Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) or equivalent OR licensure pending, as documented by temporary license.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Experience with treating high functioning, goal oriented clients in an outpatient setting.
Experience applying empirically supported treatments for specific diagnoses.
Experience in conducting consultations with professional staff and/or faculty.
