The Centralized Patient Scheduling Specialist III is responsible for the coordination of patient care throughout the pre-admission process. Ensuring that the patient profile is completed according to hospital standards, this role requires strong technological skills in order to enter data in multiple software sites simultaneously. Other duties include communication with the physician’s office staff regarding abnormal clinical findings; educating patient and family/significant other on the hospital experience; ensures patient satisfaction when speaking with patients on the phone; coordinates efforts with orthopedic navigators to gain insight on the health of the preoperative patients at HOI.
· Collaborates with members of the orthopedic team to provide seamless care to the patient at the time of the preoperative phone call.
· Has working knowledge of all necessary computer programs includin SIS, RMS, Affinity, SCM, ChartMaxx, and HIE.
· Develops knowledge of insurance, government programs and the requirements for all insurances.
· Ensures eligibility and authorization for insurance in place upon pre-registration.
· Creates and maintains patient profiles in both SIS and RMS computer systems, which includes but is not limited to: the scheduling of pre-op testing appointments, obtaining and entering of lab/radiology orders and results, checking of patient charts for necessary orders and or necessary clearances from appropriate physicians, and verification and eligibility of insurance.
· Develops and maintains relationships with the navigation team and the preoperative nurses.
· Captures and communicates patient information including the scheduling of pre-op testing, collecting and collating results for the registered nurse and/or medical doctor for complete review of systems.
· Updates pertinent patient information in all appropriate computer systems, communication venues, and with appropriate departments in a timely manner.
· Supports the team providing patient care. Ensures the unit is maintained in accordance with professional regulatory standards.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Training and Experience
Required: High School diploma.
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Health Science or other health related field. Acute care experience.

Current use or recent past use of an electronic charting method/EMR.
