Legacy Community Health is a premium, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that provides comprehensive care to community members regardless of their ability to pay. Our goal is to treat the entire patient while improving their overall wellness and quality of life, in addition to providing free pregnancy tests, HIV/AIDS screening. At Legacy, we empower patients to lead better lives by promoting healthy behaviors and offering resources such as literacy classes, family planning services, and nutrition and weight management information.
Our roots began in 1981 as the Montrose Clinic, with specialization in HIV education, testing, and treatment. Since then, the agency has expanded to 10 clinics in Houston, one in Baytown, two in Beaumont, and one in Deer Park with extensive services that include: Adult primary care, HIV/AIDS care, pediatrics, OB/GYN and maternity, dental, vision and behavioral health. We also service students within KIPP and YES Prep schools. Legacy is committed to driving healthy change in our communities.
The Dental Assistant will assist Dentists with the day to day patient operation and ensuring that all patients are given exceptional care and treatment.
Prepares patient, sterilizes and disinfects instruments, sets up instrument trays, prepares materials, and assists dentist during dental procedures.
Assist Dentist in all dental procedures.
Takes and records medical and dental histories and vital signs of patients.
Records treatment information in patient records.
Assists dentist in management of medical and dental emergencies.
Exposes dental diagnostic x-rays.
Applies protective coating of fluoride to teeth.
Provides postoperative instructions prescribed by dentist.
Makes preliminary impressions for study casts and occlusal registrations for mounting study casts.
Pours, trims, and polishes study casts.
Cleans and polishes removable appliances.
Instructs patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs.
Schedules appointments, prepares bills and receives payment for dental services, completes insurance forms, and maintains records, manually or using computer.
Assures patient comfort before, during and after procedures.
Cleans teeth, using dental instruments.
Fabricates temporary restorations and custom impressions from preliminary impressions.
Participates in the Performance Improvement Program.
EDUCATION & REQUIREMENTS:
Registered Dental Assistant that is authorized to practice in the State of Texas
Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
Experienced in electronic records
Excellent Communication Skills
Mature, accountable, responsible, energetic
Work requires the ability to assist a dentist in examining and treating patients generally acquired through a high school education and one year of experience OR completion of an approved dental assistant program.
At least three (3) years of clinical experience preferred
Knowledge of dental materials
Knowledge of OSHA regulations
