The Department of Prosthodontics is currently seeking a dental assistant to work alongside graduate prosthodontics residents and faculty to deliver quality oral health care to patients. The Dental Assistant plays a comprehensive role in the Graduate Prosthodontics clinic. The Assistant provides chairside assistance during patient procedures and dispenses all materials, equipment, and instruments to Residents. The Assistant also may perform radiographic procedures. The Assistant ensures compliance with infection control and OSHA guidelines via instrument sterilization, post-treatment decontamination, waterline safety, and operatory disinfection. The Assistant manages inventory and orders supplies. The Assistant may also perform miscellaneous clerical duties and assist faculty in preclinical Prosthodontics courses.
A successful candidate will have prior relevant experience in prosthodontic/restorative dentistry or have completed an accredited dental assisting program. The candidate should have strong interpersonal and organizational skills. The candidate must exhibit basic computer skills to operate the University's Electronic Health Record (EHR) software and must be certified to take radiographs and perform CPR. Prior experience is essential. EFDA or CDA certifications are preferred. Authorization from the PA State Board of Dentistry upon successful completion of the DANB Radiation Health and Safety exam is required to perform radiographic procedures.
