Dental Assistant, PRN- Dallas (BUMC)
The Dental Assistant assists the dentist during examination, treatment and procedures in the dental clinic, and the operating room under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse to aid in the delivery of patient care. The Dental Assistant also assembles the appropriate instrumentation and/or supplies for patient procedures in accordance with established procedures and assists in the preparation and fabrication of prosthetic appliances as needed. In addition, the Dental Assistant performs the following essential functions:
§ Communicates effectively about what the examination and/or procedure will entail to prepare the patient and offer reassurance.
§ Observes, records and reports vital signs, condition and behavior of the patient routinely and accurately.
§ Takes, develops and mounts intraoral and extraoral radiographs properly and as directed.
§ Effectively and appropriately facilitates patient scheduling and the management of emergency appointments.
§ Performs other position appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional and courteous manner.
The ideal candidate for the Dental Assistant role is customer-focused, detail-oriented and organized, and has excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
