The Dentist is responsible for examining, diagnosing, counseling and performing dental treatment for patients. Under the direction of the Director of Dental, the Dentist will participate in departmental and center wide activities. Diagnoses and treats diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth and gums, and related oral structures: Examines patient to determine nature of condition, utilizing x rays, dental instruments, and other diagnostic procedures. Cleans, fills, extracts, and replaces teeth, using rotary and hand instruments, dental appliances, medications, and surgical implements. Provides preventive dental services to patient, such as applications of fluoride and sealants to teeth, and education in oral and dental hygiene.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides reasonable and prudent dental care for CS-HHC patients. Treats patients and staff respectfully, courteously and appropriately
- Coordinates patient care with colleagues, case management staff and other agencies as necessary
- Educates patients on preventive health care and chronic disease management
- Practices appropriate follow-up and outreach to special needs patients
- Completes dental charting and coding in a timely manner
- Participate in staffing interviews and evaluations when necessary
- Participates in governmental or grant reviews when necessary
- Attends and contributes to dental/staff departmental meetings
- Contributes to grant applications/writing protocols as necessary

Education: Graduate of a DentalSchoolrecognized by the ADA Counsel on Dental Education. Dental Residency Program required. Current Connecticut Dental License and current narcotics license required. CPR Certification required.
Experience: Prior experience is preferred. New graduates can apply. Familiarity with GE Centricity/VisDental system is highly desirable.
Knowledge/Abilities: Knowledge of dental health care management and operations. Ability to multitask and maintain good communication with wide variety of staff. Ability to write reports and documents and deliver oral presentations. Interest in preventive dentistry, social consciousness, sensitivity to needs of community residents and the desire to work with and for disadvantaged persons. Excellent computer skills are necessary. Electronic dental knowledge is highly recommended.
