NexGen Data Systems is seeking a deputy lead of the systems team, which is tasked with operating and maintaining a global enterprise computer network defense architecture. The Systems Deputy Team Lead will apply technical and leadership skill sets to support the compute and storage infrastructure. The deputy lead works with team members and system support personnel to develop implementation strategies and project execution planning. This includes designing, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting and optimizing any system. Roles and Responsibilities Partner with key stakeholders to establish technical direction and derive innovative solutions to engineer reliable, scalable, supportable and secure solutions for our customers. Supervise the systems teams to ensure timely and effective responses to user and business needs. Provides technical guidance and leadership to engineers with less experience Conducts research and case studies on leading edge technologies and make determinations on the probability of implementation. Oversee laptop, application, and infrastructure support problems and resolutions to determine trouble trends. Meet regularly with support staff to discuss deliverables, timelines, and documentation. Plan, establish, implement, and administer IT policies, standards, procedures, measurements and controls. Lead teams in strategic and tactical planning and in predictably and efficiently delivering on our commitments within assigned responsibilities (virtualization, storage, operating systems, apps and databases). Identify process bottlenecks and research tools and methodologies to fix them. Define the technical direction taken by product teams through implementation of alternative products, tools and methods that can be used to foster innovation and increase product quality and the productivity of engineering as a whole. Automate operational tasks, and assist in the transition to service ownership models. RequiredDesired Skills Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the business including peers, technical management, customers andor external vendors Demonstrated knowledge of the TCPIP protocol suite such IP, ARP, TCP, UDP, SMTP, SSLTLS and SFTP Experience implementing disaster recovery concepts Experience with capacity planning, system architecture and design as well as high availability concepts Experience with VMWare ESXi andor vSphere 6.x Experience managing infrastructure with multiple Operating Systems (Microsoft, Linux, Unix) Experience managing geographically dispersed infrastructure and DR environments.
