The Joslin RN Diabetes Educator will: work within a multidisciplinary team; be responsible for management of diabetes patients including provision of management advice per approved policies and under supervision of the Joslin Medical Provider; provide education services and general diabetes self-management education to patients,families, care partners, and community; manage telephone triage calls for diabetes care and management; play an active role in the American Diabetes Association (ADA) Advisory Council and Recognition activities; participate in ongoing staff education and community services events; participate in the development of diabetes curricula and policies/procedures related to diabetes management; maintain accurate records in the electronic medical record and maintain the necessary professional continuing education units required by ADA standards. NYS licensed/registered Nurse (or eligible), Bachelors of Science in Nursing, Health or Education related field and 3 years of clinical experience (preferably with diabetes care and management) OR RN with NYS licensed/registered Nurse (or eligible), Associates degree in Nursing, Health or Education related field and 5 years of clinical experience required. Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) or ability to obtain CDE within 4 years of hire required. Excellent written/oral communication skills and strong computer skills required. Master's degree preferred. CPR-BLS certification required by time of appointment.
