We are seeking a Dialysis Technician/Health Unit Coordinator at Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau, WI to assist with providing dialysis patient care under the general direction of a Registered Nurse. This position will fill a 0.4 FTE as a Dialysis Technician and a 0.4 FTE as a Health Unit Coordinator. Patient Care Responsibilities will include: Provides one-on-one observation of a patient under the direction of a supervising nurse. Verbally calms, reassures, and/or redirects patients as necessary. Reports any changes, safety concerns, patient complaints, or unexpected behaviors to the supervising nurse. Initiates, monitors, and terminates dialysis treatments in accordance with the units policies and procedures. Prepares and monitors the hemodialysis machine and performs the required quality control checks. Assists physicians and nurses with central venous catheter care procedures. Maintains cleanliness of room and bathrooms between daily cleanings. Health Unit Coordinator Responsibilities will include: Performs receptionist duties for the patient care areas. Maintains accurate medical record of patients on unit. Communicates with nursing frequently. Maintains equipment that supports their work. Performs other duties as deemed appropriate by management. Qualifications: CCHT (Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Tech) certification, or obtained within 18 months of hire required. Current CPR certification or obtained within 90 days of hire required. Knowledge of patient care standards and practices normally acquired through completion of a high school diploma or equivalent required. One year of experience as a nursing assistant in an acute care setting beneficial. Completion of a nursing assistant course beneficial. Graduation from an accredited program for Health Unit Coordinators, or training/education to meet job requirements beneficial.
