This position leads the pricing strategy for a portfolio of approximately %24465M in premium across both the Auto and Home lines of business. The primary accountability for this position is the successful creation and deployment of strategic pricing initiatives in Texas and several neighboring states. Additional key responsibilities for this position will be advancing the pricing knowledge and capabilities across the organization; and managing the design, pricing and implementation of CW projects enabling the Personal Lines product strategy roadmap. This position leads a team of 3 direct reports.
Successful candidates must demonstrate an ability to navigate difficult regulatory environments; lead others through cross-functional efforts to deploy pricing and product improvements; generate creative solutions to overcome pricing, compliance or IT obstacles; and to build strong relationships and provide clear communications to a variety of audiences. This position relies on strong partnerships with numerous internal and external stakeholders by delivering high-quality and timely pricing recommendations driven by high standards of actuarial practice.
Responsibilities
- Lead the analysis, solution design and implementation of state-specific class plan enhancements in Texas, adhering to regulatory and compliance requirements while achieving business objectives.
- Drive continuous action for profit improvement, policy growth and retention across a portfolio of highly nuanced and impactful states. Challenge pricing and filing approaches based on competitor research and industry knowledge, winning filing approval for proposed changes and delivering all work within established timelines and quality standards.
- Lead a team of 3, cultivating a positive culture and with a focus on attracting and retaining key talent. Invest in staff career development through coaching, feedback and stretch assignments. Advance the pricing knowledge and capabilities across Personal Lines, including individual coaching and group training as needed.
- Provide clear and frequent communication and supporting documentation as project delivery and pricing activities progress over time.
- Build strong partnerships with State Product Managers and other key areas to achieve profit and growth objectives in assigned states, demonstrating effective collaboration and driving continuous improvement as needed.
Experience & Skills
- FCAS/ACAS designation or actuarial experience required.
- Minimum 5 years of P&C insurance experience. Personal Lines experience preferred.
- Experience leading and developing high performing team.
- Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate clearly for a wide range of audiences.
- Strong time management, prioritization and project management skills.
- Proven track record of challenging existing processes and influencing others in the spirit of continuous improvement, and driving delivery to conclusion while meeting critical deadlines.
