The External Financial Reporting team will be responsible for producing high quality external financial reporting in accordance with regulatory accounting and disclosure requirements. This position will report directly to the Head of External Financial Reporting at the Alcon campus in Fort Worth, Texas, and will regularly interface with cross-functional and cross-border colleagues in Accounting, Finance, Tax, Legal, Treasury, and Investor Relations.
External Financial Reporting team responsibilities are summarized below:
Prepare and review all SEC functions, including annual report (20-F or 10K), quarterly reports (10Q, if needed), Swiss reporting requirements, earnings release, and XBRL tagging.
Coordinate with Legal function on incremental filings as needed.
Other required financial reporting such as OECD, Swiss National Bank statistical reporting, and Statutory reporting.
Assist with compilation of financial statements, footnotes, MD&A and all other components of the filings
Assist with annual proxy preparation process and shareholders' reports.
Analyze and implement changes in IFRS / US GAAP / SEC pronouncements.
Ensure proper accounting and reporting for share-based compensation, pensions, tax, and treasury matters.
Work with external and internal auditors, as requested.
Prepare audit schedules and interface with external auditors.
Assist with ad hoc projects and responsibilities.
Train associates on External financial reporting inputs and deliverables

Certified Public Accountant / Chartered Accountant
Experience with major public accounting firm (Big 4 preferred)
Public multi-national Company experience preferred
Strong technical accounting and reporting competencies in IFRS or US GAAP, including in-depth understanding of SEC Rules and Regulations Preferred / key traits
Line management experience with team responsibility
Healthcare / Life Sciences / Medical Device industry knowledge
Experience performing independent research / analysis associated with accounting and regulatory pronouncements (e.g., impact of new accounting standard on Company financial statements)
Experience writing accounting memos
Experience executing / documenting SOX controls
Detail-oriented with demonstrated oral and written communication skills
Ability to work with senior management and influence decision making
Ability to work with all levels of personnel
Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to adapt to change
