Under the direction of the Vice President of Human Resources (VPHR), the Director of Human Resources manages the HR operations, compliance, compensation, employee relations, employee engagement, and policies and procedures. The VP represents the culture and values of the organization through behaviors and actions, upholding the credibility and respect of the HR department through excellent approach-ability and responsiveness.
-Lead and manage a team of three Human Resources Generalists (HRG) to ensure quality, innovation, flexibility, and excellent customer service for Harbor manager and employees
-Analyze the effectiveness of HR operations and policies. Re-engineer processes and leverage technology to ensure maximum efficiency.
-Develop rapport with functional area executives and department managers and provide HR guidance on employee compensation, compliance with employment regulations, and performance management.
-Influence leadership by establishing credibility, trust, and rapport throughout the organization to be an effective listener and problem solver of business and people issues
-Prepare reports for the VPHR using business metrics and KPI's .
-Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for Quality Steering Committee.
-Manages the Human Resources pages on the intranet.
-Ensure all policies and procedures comply with legal regulations and best practices and ensure timely and accurate reporting to all outside agencies, as required.
-Oversee all internal and external audits/site visits and ensure all HR practices comply with HRSA, TJC, DPH, and other regulatory requirements.
-Timely file all required external and internal reports such as EEO-1, OSHA 300A, etc.
-Review, suggest revisions and approve job descriptions for new or current positions as necessary.
-Maintain salary scales and recommend scales for new positions ensuring legal compliance.
-Support managers with implementing performance management and compensation policies and procedures.
-Manage employee relations investigations by working with the HRG and managers to ensure all investigations are conducted thoroughly, fairly, and timely. Reviews all documentation to ensure accuracy, thoroughness, and clarity.
-Recommend appropriate disciplinary actions as needed.
-Oversees Unemployment Claims and attend hearings as needed.
-Manage the Employee Engagement Committee, including planning activities which recognize and celebrate our employees.
-Manage the annual Employee Spotlight Awards in conjunction with the Employee Engagement Committee.
-Manage the quarterly Service Awards program.
-Partner with the VPHR to foster a unified culture which inspires excellent performance and strong employee engagement.
-Incorporate diversity initiatives into Employee Engagement activities and culture.
Required Education, Experience and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree required.
8 + years of experience in Human Resources, including directly managing staff, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Comprehensive knowledge of employment laws.
Significant experience in Employee Relations and Compliance.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications; Word, Excel, Outlook and HRIS and Payroll systems (ADP preferred).
