The Director of Managed Care will join Oak Street Health at a critical time in the history of our company and of primary care. The opportunity for impact is large and growing, and Oak Street is leading the transition from fee-for-service to value-based care.
The Director will be responsible for leading the Managed Care Operations team within Oak Street, which owns our payer partnership interactions. This involves ongoing contracting, contract administration and relationship management, and ensuring internal education and troubleshooting re: managed care contracting and programs. The scope will include all of Oak Street’s payer partnerships - locally and nationally. The position will report to the VP of Managed Care.
Team Leadership: Overseeing, developing and retaining the team of Managed Care Associates who support Oak Street and our payer partners day in and day out.
Payer Partnerships: Effective risk-based partnerships with Medicare Advantage plans are critical for Oak Street’s success. The Director will foster these partnerships through relationship building efforts. They will drive excellence in performance through ensuring top-tier joint operating committees (JOCs) and ongoing ad hoc interactions. They will also provide support, training, and consultation to the team to improve and grow our relationships.
Internal Managed Care Education & Representation: The Director will be the internal face of Managed Care to this growing, thriving company. This means participating actively in internal meetings and improvement efforts. Internal interactions will include: quality / population health, pharmacy, managed care growth, IT / BI, clinical , shared services (e.g., call center),
Organizational Strategy and Collaboration: The Director of Managed Care organization wide planning and strategy including helping share the managed care perspective and expertise as needed for new site launch improvements, planning for & hiring staff, owning continuous improvement initiatives, and prioritizing SOP, BI development needs, and network management initiatives. Additionally, the Director may be asked to participate or lead committees or workgroups in the following areas:
This includes representing Oak Street to external partners (e.g., payers, providers) and creating relationships and partnerships that support our mission and our economics.

BA, master’s degree (eg. MBA, MHA, MPH, MSN) preferred
6+ years of experience in Medicare Advantage / managed care
2+ years of experience in managing a team
Data and analytics experience with MMR, MOR, MAO-2, MAO-4, and other healthcare standard data formats
Curiosity and a love for problem solving.
Experience using a metrics-driven approach to analyze cost, quality, and satisfaction data to drive clinical strategy and program redesign.
Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with staff, providers, and a diverse group of leaders (internally and at a payer partner)
Excited by the process of developing and implementing new processes. Must be willing to “get hands dirty” in executing upon the Oak Street vision.
