Director of Neuropathology

The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the University of Minnesota seeks a full time ABP certified neuropathologist. Board certification and a minimum of five years of experience in neuropathology is required. Academic rank, compensation and appointment type will be based on qualifications and experience. Candidates must have a well-demonstrated ability in teaching and in scholarly productivity in neuropathology or experimental neuropathology/neuroscience. Minimum requirements are an M.D or equivalent degree, eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Minnesota, board certified or board eligible in AP, AP/CP or AP/NP, completion of an ACGME-accredited pathology residency training program, ACGME accredited fellowship training in neuropathology, and neuropathology board certified or board eligible. Preferred candidates for this position will have demonstrated clinical expertise and an established research program in a neuroscience area of neuro-oncology.
Responsibilities will include serving as the Director of Neuropathology in the Division of Anatomic Pathology and as the Program Director of the Department’s ACGME accredited Neuropathology fellowship. Sign-out responsibilities, intraoperative consultations, on-call duties, autopsy, resident and fellow supervision and conferences are shared with other members of the neuropathology faculty. Academic time will be used to pursue scholarly work in the candidate’s area of specialty/research expertise with a goal of developing collaborative or independent external funded research. Preferred candidates will be active in their national organizations and have experience in fostering an academic environment for medical students, residents, fellows and faculty.
