Job Overview
The Modem Chipset Product Management team is part of QCT's Product Management organization. The team manages the cellular technology (aka modem) portfolio; the portfolio includes all cellular systems and radio technologies being commercialized by QCT (GSM, 1x/DO, UMTS/HSPA, TD-SCDMA, LTE, 5G) and thin modem (MDM) products that utilize these technologies. The teams objective is to synthesize and prioritize technical requirements, establish an overall cellular technology portfolio strategy and roadmap to enable QCT to maintain overall technology, product and business leadership. Development of the cellular technology portfolio takes into account technology evolution, standardization initiatives, infrastructure developments and partnerships, evolution in device related engineering and testing processes as well as market/product requirements, opportunities and competitive landscape.
As a product manager within the Cellular Technology Portfolio Management team the selected candidates job functions will be to:
Manage multiple existing 4G/5G commercial thin modem (MDM) products in all aspects including but not limited to customer management, working with engineering, finance, operations and sales to manage the product on a daily basis.
Oversees the development of multiple, complex products and ensures cross-functional communication of product development goals. Ensures products and roadmap are differentiated using input from customers, market, competitors, and technology advancements.
Communicates regularly with internal customers, third-party vendors, and senior management to establish needs and goals, and executes communication/change management plan for stakeholders, management, and executives.
Oversees successful cross-functional collaboration by ensuring the completion of milestones by Engineering team and other internal partners (i.e., program management) ensuring the completed work aligns with roadmap for a product line(s).
Collaborates with key stakeholders and program sponsors to develop product goals (e.g., performance, cost, timeline, customer schedules), discuss product feasibility, and facilitate cross-functional decision making for product lines.
Develop business cases, go to market strategies, including working with reference design group to develop reference design offerings to provide a competitive product in the market.
Direct interface with customers and wireless operators to further product lifetime, and managing existing product issues/strategies from business and high level technical aspects.
Working with internal and external partner marketing organizations to build momentum for new products.
The successful candidate will have strong technical, organizational, communication and negotiation skills and will be a self-starter.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Humanities, or related field.
• 8+ years Product Management or related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
15+ years in the following areas preferred:
Experience in semiconductor industry in a Modem engineering/systems, product management, product marketing or equivalent role.
Direct experience in wireless telecommunications industry and experience interacting with customers, device makers and wireless operators
Experience and understanding of wireless telecommunications market, ecosystem, trends and key players
Master’s, Business Administration (MBA)
Educational Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
Preferred: Master's, Business Administration
