Sends and receives radio transmissions from sworn andnon-sworn field units and surrounding agencies. Answers the telephone anddetermines the form of assistance required. Assures units within the departmentresponds or refers the call to other sources for resolution. Performsmulti-tasking priorities. Maintains knowledge of all required departmentpolicies and procedures. Operates the Alabama Criminal Justice InformationCenter/National Crime Information Center (ACJIC/NCIC) terminal and becomecertified on the same. Operates equipment in the Communications Center. Rotateson all shifts and all days of the week, at the discretion of the CommunicationsSupervisor.
Hourly Pay Range: %2414.84- %2419.10
High School diploma or GED required.
Must be able to learn simple to complexelectronic equipment in the form of computer operations
Must be able to type a minimum of twenty-five(25) wpm on a computer keyboard and learn simple to complex procedures asrequired in order to carry out the job
Must be able to complete multiple taskssimultaneously while typing, talking on the multi-line telephone and receivingor transmitting radio signals from units in the field or from other agencies
Must be able to pass a medical examination anda background investigation before the date of hire
Must be willing to work varied days and shifts,at the discretion of the Communications Supervisor
