Summary of Duties:
+ Apply electrical engineering theory, mathematical methods, physical science, and advanced engineering technologies to accomplish engineering objectives
+ Conduct development and qualification testing on complex electronic assemblies to refine designs and qualify products to exacting customer requirements
+ Write technical reports substantiating product performance meets with applicable specifications and customer requirements for functionality, safety, and reliability
+ Generate operating procedures for new products and components
+ Originate and refine manufacturing and inspection work directions
+ Create product documentation, including manufacturing drawings and specifications, and test equipment designs
+ Perform technical support functions to meet delivery schedules and cost objectives, and ensure product quality
+ Identify and implement improved processes and procedures that reduce cost and time to market, increase product quality and reliability, and enhance the relationship with the customer
+ Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and internal organizations to resolve product design and development issues, manufacturing problems, and acceptance test failures
+ Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner, and work in accordance with established HS&E requirements to ensure the protection of employees, the public, and the environment
Candidates presenting higher levels of formal work experience may be considered for higher level job classification (Engineer III, etc..) based on candidate qualifications and business need.
This position is located at the Kansas City National Security Campus in Kansas City, Missouri.
You Must Have:
+ Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited Engineering program, or a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from an accredited program
+ US Citizenship needed to acquire and maintain required US Dept of Energy "Q" level security clearance and SCI access
+ Two (2) or more years of Electrical Engineering experience or related technical activities, such as electronic product design and development, manufacturing, and testing.
+ Five (5) or more years' industry experience in electronic product design, development, manufacturing, testing, and trouble shooting
+ Competence using electronic design tools (ORCAD, Mentor, Altium) and simulation software (P-Spice, LTSpice, Ansoft, etc)
+ Proficiency using engineering test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, function generators, etc.
+ Experience with high voltage, pulse power systems incorporating electronic design and packaging for harsh environments, including qualification of designs to military standards
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate ideas to other team members and customer representatives with varied technical backgrounds
+ Current DOE "Q" or DOD TS clearance
