OpenAir is seeking a technical Operations Manager to help manage its Engineering Operations. OpenAir is one of the family of products under the Oracle-NetSuite business unit. It is the leader in cloud professional services automation and runs under a Unix-environment.
This person will be responsible for maintaining and upholding high standards under the business unit s 3 operational pillars, Uptime, Security and Performance, as well as delivering on the operational engineering objectives of the business.
This role is a global engineering leadership position and will be managing engineering staff based in the US and Canada; and will be working closely with the wider OpenAir operations team with engineers based in the UK and Czech Republic.
This role will require a close working relationship with the Development & QA teams as well as other teams within the NetSuite and Oracle organization. The successful candidate will help enhance the operational procedure, engineering, systems and business processes.
Delivering operational engineering products in line with the business objectives
Project management, planning and service delivery
Decisions on key technical solutions, design decisions and implementations
Incident Management and Problem management
Ensuring operational uptime, security and performance of the OpenAir product in our cloud environment to our customers
Communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising and reviewing job contributions quarterly.
Developing operations systems by implementing, enforcing and evaluating policies and procedures;
Managing a group of remote engineers in the team's daily 24x7 operation, all quarterly reviews, evaluations and career development.
Accomplishing operational roadmaps by completing related tasks as needed
Identifying areas for improvement
Promoting a culture of learning
A completed bachelor s technical degree from an accredited University, or equivalent work experience
Authorized to work in the US or in Canada without sponsorship
Direct management experience for salaried employees and their performance
Experience with performance metrics and process improvement (how, when, who)
Candidates must be flexible to work weekends and/or overnight shifts
Requirements and qualifications
Demonstrated success in leading/managing a team of support engineers in a 24x7 operations environment (Minimum 5 years)
Demonstrated success in establishing and improving IaaS, Paas, or SaaS procedures, metrics, technology, tools within on-premise and remote support environment
Previous experience with Unix/Linux (must have)
Knowledge of MySql database (good-to-have)
Knowledge of Perl (nice-to-have)
Strong People development skills
Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations
Demonstrated ability to promote a culture of learning
Demonstrated experience and collaboration with international teams and departments
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
