ERC, Inc. has an opening for a Laboratory Technician at the Air Force Research Laboratory, Edwards AFB, CA.
Primary duties will be to assist with the mixing, characterizing and testing of solid propellant formulations for tactical and strategic system applications. This will entail using various chemicals and energetic materials in a controlled laboratory setting. Characterization will include chemical and physical properties, material compatibility; thermal stability; mechanical, hazard and ballistic testing on propellant and propellant ingredients using various techniques to include DSC, TGA, VTS, impact, friction, ESD, card gap, strand burner and tensile testing. Assist with reviewing and updating area documents to include operating procedures, hazard communication programs, permits, hazards analysis, chemical hygiene plans, chemical and material inventories, equipment inventories and waste streams. Provide routine equipment maintenance, help troubleshoot and repair equipment problems as needed. Must be able to obtain a security clearance. Experience with energetic materials and process safety management is a benefit.
