+ This highly visible role is for an Engineering Technician III in our Analytical Sciences Chemistry Laboratory. Engineering Technician – Analytical Labs will perform duties supporting Laboratory testing. Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for assisting experienced Scientist and Technicians with a variety of day to day testing activities
+ This position follows defined procedures and processes using various advanced testing instrumentation in order to complete tasks
+ Testing is primarily in support of production and new development operations
+ Requires the ability to work independently at a high level, as well as on teams, to complete special projects, perform testing
+ A willingness to work either as an independent investigator or as a member of a multidisciplinary cross-functional team, depending on the nature of the situation; and the ability to generate accurate and precise analytical data, interpret data, prepare formal reports and make formal presentations of results, conclusions and recommendations is required
+ The successful candidate will have a strong customer service focus, and the ability to communicate effectively with customers who have limited knowledge of chemistry
You Must Have:
+ U.S. Citizenship required in order to obtain and maintain US DOE "Q"-level security clearance
+ Four-year technical degree or four or more years of combined formal/military training and practical experience, to include at least two years training/experience in a laboratory/test environment or instrumentation
+ Two (2) or more years of experience in a technical/technician role
+ Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in a role related to testing and analysis in Analytical Chemistry
+ Experience with various aspects of Analytical Chemistry such as bench chemistry, X-ray, inorganic testing, elemental analysis, and other methods
+ Understanding of NSC processes and operations
+ Proficiency in MS office products and plant based Portal web applications
+ Six Sigma Greenbelt
+ Ability to interface effectively with internal organizations
+ Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with customers
+ Ability to effectively manage multiple assignments and responsibilities
+ Ability to work under minimal supervision with latitude for independent action and decision making
+ IT skills beyond basic MS Office skills involving Analytical Instrument software, networking, and other computer systems used
