AECOM’s Atlanta Bridge Group is responsible for a wide variety of bridge and transportation related structures’ including highway overpasses, pedestrian bridges, bridge inspection, bridge maintenance, bridge load tests and railroad public projects reviews. Under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer: + Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities. + Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives + Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids + Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member + Assist in design of transportation bridge engineering projects + Demonstrated ability to build trusting working relationships with clients and colleagues + Preparing and checking design calculations for bridges and other transportation related structures + Drawing preparation, review and checking + Quantity calculations + Shop drawing review + Preparation of reports and specifications + Assisting in maintaining project documentation In Summary: * Builds analytic and design skills. * Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer. * Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer. * Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer. * Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems. * Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision. **Minimum Requirements** + Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering or related field + Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Mathcad, MicroStation or AutoCAD software and be familiar with at least one structural analysis software package + Candidate should be detail oriented and should have strong skills in structural analysis, steel and concrete design; and the ability to work in a team environment. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good time management skills, a strong work ethic, and a willing desire to learn + Passed FE Exam, or able to obtain FE within 1 year of hire. + Interest in Transportation design project + Willingness to travel (if and when required) **Preferred Qualifications** + Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred + Master's degree in Structural Engineering + Basic knowledge of some industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as LEAP, MicroStation, MathCAD, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models) + Some working familiarity with GDOT is preferred + Previous intern/co-op work experience in bridge design **What We Offer** When you join AECOM, you become part of a company that is pioneering the future .
