Brief Description Develops, implements, and coordinates emergency preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation plans and programs related to epidemiology activities.
Detailed Description Identifies, organizes and facilitates stakeholder groups consisting of safety and emergency management professionals and responders from public and private sectors of the healthcare industry communicates emergency plans, roles and responsibilities during public health emergencies and catastrophes. Plans, organizes and facilitates community planning sessions that utilizes a combination of best practices, real events, research and analysis, in order to develop a strategic direction for integrated healthcare and public health preparedness and response.Analyzes emerging project data, trends and activities identifies strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, needs and gaps and develop reports and data for review by federal, state and county officials, stakeholders and grantors.Prepares publications, reports and official documents assists in planning and managing surveillance systems and data files and develops technical information related to the program.Acts as a lead investigator for infectious disease outbreak investigations, establishes prevention and control measures works closely with local and regional health officials regarding disease outbreaks, infection control procedures, case findings, follow-up, reporting and documentation and develops detailed response plans during public health emergencies. Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Emergency Management, Business, or in a job related field of study. Three (3) years of professional work related experience in emergency management or public health emergency preparedness, or in a job related field, to include professional planning.Skilled in the use of standard software applications. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public. Must possess knowledge of local and state-level public health emergency preparedness-related response and planning concepts, practices and statutes knowledge of epidemiology and public health knowledge of investigative techniques. Ability to foster partnerships with individuals and groups on a national, state, regional and local basis. Ability to handle crises situations. Requires a valid Texas Driver's License, with good driving record, and reliable transportation. Standard office environment. Requires 24-hour on call responsibilities. Must be able to visit various off-site locations.
