The role of Facilities Maintenance Engineer will plan and coordinate all installations and refurbishments, manage the upkeep of equipment and supplies to meet health and safety standards including inspecting building internally to determine the need for repairs or renovations and notifying the appropriate individuals. This person will be responsible for coordinating safety compliance items and activities to include training, communications and tracking. Supports reactive & preventative maintenance support services for facility equipment. Coordinates with supervisors, managers, and employees at all levels to ensure local, state and federal regulations are maintained.
- Acts as a primary CVI facility contact for the ADC Office; works with outside vendors and contractors for building/equipment repair and projects and manages the upkeep of equipment and supplies to meet health and safety standards.
- Collaborates with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) on Fire drills/building safety and all required training. Coordinates inspections to ensure compliance with codes and safety regulations and determines the need for repairs or renovations.
- Assists in developing and reviewing departmental procedures and SOPs. Assists in developing and implementing corrective action plans for departmental NCRs.
- Provides support on PMs on HVAC units, Autoclave, Overhead doors, Man doors, vacuum pumps, Air compressors, etc.
- Reviews utilities consumption and strive to minimize costs.
- Assists Manager in identifying and reporting problems or concerns relating to job functions and safety. Coordinates department employees’ activities/projects, set priorities, maintains efficient work order flow and timely service to customers. Coordinates any facility issues between shifts.
- Coordinates removal of facilities waste, recycling, and schedule management.
- Coordinates all facility inspections and facility/maintenance safety programs.
- Trains and/or assists in facility, forklift, etc. training and orientation of department employees. May be required to organize/schedule and/or facilitate department/facility training.
- Performs facility PMs on items related to HVAC, safety eye washes, safety shower inspections, sprinkler systems, ladder safety and any other facility related PMs.
- Demonstrated good interpersonal and problem-solving skills essential
- Aptitude, knowledge, and/or experience with basics of one or more skilled trade such as: electrician, machinist, pipefitter
- Familiarity with shop trade terminology, materials used, and general knowledge of diagnostic and troubleshooting techniques
- Demonstrated communication and leadership skills
- Must be able to provide strong guidance, leadership, communication, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills across various levels
- Exhibits good communication skills – verbal, written, and comprehension of the English language

- Experience with CMMS and CMS software
- Strong computer skills using MS Office (Word, Excel).
- Must be available in emergency situations
- Able to work with moderate supervision
- The job function is based at the Research & Development Facility and involves working in both an engineering workshop environment and a clean room environment.
- Flexibility in working hours is required e.g. to meet deadlines i.e. working early/late/outside of normal hours.
- Lifting and movement of equipment and materials will be required.
- Working at heights, confined areas, prolonged kneeling, standing or sitting.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in an engineering or facilities support role.
- Proven experience in all aspects of engineering principals and techniques.
- Experience with inspections, OSHA, troubleshooting required
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical/Electronic Engineer required, or combination of experience and education (Associate degree) accepted
