The Plant Operator III position ensures that the boiler and chiller systems operate effectively within their design capacities and/or capabilities at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The Plant Operator III will assist the Plant Manager by ensuring asset conditions are monitored, routine inspections are scheduled, maintenance is performed and more complex repairs are completed, the chemical inventory is managed, equipment is calibrated and the Metasys Building Maintenance System (BMS) is used to manage the operations of the Domestic and International Utility Plants. In addition, the Plant Operator III uses his/her expertise to direct the monitoring of control panels and panel boards and adjustments to controls, valves and pumps that are manually or remotely controlling the regulation of flow, pressure levels and distribution of heated or chilled water throughout the system. Plant Operator III responsibilities also include troubleshooting complex operational issues and controls for electric motors, pumps, engines, generators and valves in the plant to regulate the HVAC system at the airport. The Plant Operator III will direct the sampling of collections and the performance of routine laboratory tests to ensure proper chemical levels. The Plant Operator III will report to the Plant Manager and must be able to perform the above described operational and maintenance tasks independently of the Plant Manager’s supervision. The Plant Operator III will also serve in an acting capacity and make complex operational and maintenance decisions in the absence of the Plant Manager. In the absence of the Plant Manager and as needed, the Plant Operator III will work directly with the client, the Department of Aviation and their customers as needed and as directed by the Plant Manager, Technical Services Manager and/or Program Manager.
