This posting is for the Ventura County Health Care Agency; vacancy location is Ventura and Santa Paula, and may require travel throughout Ventura County.
Under close supervision performs complex engineering-related field and office duties and oversees the work of Maintenance Engineers and support personnel in an assigned County facility, and performs related duties as required.
The Facilities Operations Specialist I demonstrates a thorough knowledge of, and good judgment regarding building systems, such as electrical, mechanical, and plumbing, and the related maintenance, corrective and preventive; contract management; outstanding communication and customer service skills; the ability to effectively lead, direct, and train subordinate staff; and the ability to maintain productive collegial interpersonal relationships.
The depth and breadth of assignments increase at the II level and may include and combination of the duties described below. Incumbents are assigned in the various facilities maintained by the agency and, depending on the facility, may assist and/or perform the duties listed below.
The ideal candidate will also have experience with energy and water conservation and maintenance of indoor environment control systems.
Facility Operation Specialist I - $2759.15 - $3948.03 Bi-weekly
Facility Operation Specialist II - $3063.27 - $4371.57 Bi-weekly
EDUCATIONAL INCENTIVE: Some positions may be eligible for educational incentive. This incentive may be 2.5%, 3.5%, or 5% for incumbents in eligible positions based on completion of an Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's degree that is not required for the classification.
BILINGUAL INCENTIVE: Some positions may be eligible for bilingual incentive depending on the applicable memorandum of agreement and the needs of the department. In order to qualify for this incentive, incumbents in eligible positions must take and pass the applicable bilingual fluency exam.

Facility Operation Specialist I and II are represented by the Ventura Employees' Association (VEA) and are not eligible for overtime compensation.
The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill current and future Regular, Temporary, Fixed-term, Intermittent, and Extra-help vacancies. There is currently one (1) Regular vacancy.
