Job Title: Food & Beverage Manager Department: Food & Beverage Reports to: Director of Food & Beverage Supervises: Catering and Concessions associates FLSA Status: Salary/Exempt SUMMARY: SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an immediate opening for a Food & Beverage Manager at accesso ShoWare Center in Kent, Washington. This position performs event driven operations for catering and concession departments. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: * Work with Executive Chef and Director of Food & Beverage to create menu items that are cost effective and maintain the integrity of the Food and Beverage Department. * Update/create Suites and Catering menus. * Prepare invoicing for events. * Work with the Client regarding event details and preparation. * Ensure proper staffing for all events with correct number of staff for each position. * Oversee the operations of suites and catering and concessions from beginning to end of all events. * Ensure proper event coverage by hiring and training staff on a regular basis. * Supervise employees and ensure all company policies and procedures are followed. * Develop, counsel and discipline staff when necessary. * Responsible for accuracy and completion of opening and closing duties, deliver and transfer of inventory, cash and company assets (equipment, keys, small wares, etc.) of all staff. * Supervise bar operations such as proper pouring of alcohol, cash handling, maintaining of inventory, monitoring compliance of Washington State Liquor Laws and company policies, staff open and closure duties, customer service, etc. * Responsible for training staff members in proper Customer Service and ensure prompt and friendly service. * Assist with all food & beverage functions and willingness to perform all positions required. Able to perform in all food & beverage functions in absence of Director of Food & Beverage. * Act as a liaison between event staff, kitchen staff and guests. * Complete documentation outlining events from beginning to end and distribute among facility staff. * Update and maintain company website in relation to suites and catering. * Work directly with in-house client(s) to enhance sales and productivity. * Work with and update prospecting/marketing log to increase clientele. * Collaborate with the marketing team to enhance suites and catering sales. * Actively seek and pursue new business and revenue streams for the food & beverage department. * Maintains inventory control for both catering and concessions departments. * Observe physical condition of facility equipment, small ware, and décor. Make recommendations for correction or improvement as needed. * Assists with analysis of information concerning facility operation such as daily food sales, patron attendance, and labor costs to prepare budget and to maintain cost control of facility operations. * Control labor and operating expenses through effective scheduling, budgeting, purchasing decisions, inventory and cash controls. * Assist Director of Food & Beverage with daily management of the Food & Beverage Department. * Assist Director of Food & Beverage with the overall direction and coordination of Food and Beverage units. * Establish and maintain food & beverage vendor relations. * Any other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: * HS Diploma Required. Bachelor's degree preferred. * 3 years' experience in food and beverage service. Arena/Stadium industry preferred but not required. * Highly motivated, self-directed, personable, positive and hard working. * Detailed oriented and able to perform independently with minimal supervision. * Strong communication skills and works well in a team-oriented environment. * Must be customer service and client focused. * Must be able to adapt to new processes, procedures and working environment when necessary. * Must obtain current food handlers and mixology permit. Obtain ServSafe within 90 days of start date. * Experience with Point of Sale software. * Must be available to work nights, weekend, holidays and extended hours along with normal business hours.
