POSITION SUMMARY: Taquiza is a privately held traditional Mexican taqueria company located in Miami, Florida. Our firm is experienced in crafting authentic tacos & street-fare, and we are known for our USDA certified organic, non-GMO, and gluten-free, corn tortillas, and chips. We also carry a wide variety of Mexican beer along with our rotating craft and local beer selections. We are looking for an energetic and professional Food Runner/Busser/Cashier to join our vibrant restaurants. You will perform a range of tasks, including preparing tables, serving orders, explaining meals, and facilitating collaboration between kitchen and wait staff. You will explain menu items and provide suggestions to customers when asked. The incumbent serves food and beverages to the customers promptly and follows the standards set by the facility. Bussing duties include supporting other team members by cleaning and resetting tables, ensuring the availability of flatware and plates, and bringing guest needs to the attention of the Restaurant Manager. You will also restock necessary items, such as napkins and straws, and may assist with washing dishes. Suitable candidates should be efficient, attentive, and have strong customer service skills. The incumbent will also process customers' bills and handle cash and credit card transactions. To be successful in this role, you should be familiar with restaurant operations and have a good understanding of what makes for excellent customer service. You should also be available to work within opening hours, including weekends and holidays. As a Food Runner/Busser/Cashier, your ultimate goal will be to provide our guests with outstanding customer service and actively help to improve their overall dining experience. The ideal candidate will be friendly, professional, and demonstrate excellent communication skills. The incumbent will report directly to the Restaurant Manager or Assistant Restaurant Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Prepares restaurant tables with special attention to sanitation and order
- Greets and attends to customers upon entrance and when leaving the establishment
- Presents restaurant menus and help customers select food and beverages
- Takes and serve orders and answers questions or make recommendations for other products
- Collaborates with other restaurant servers and kitchen staff
- Assists customers with their orders by explaining specials, meals, drinks, and make recommendations.
- Delivers food orders to a variety of customers in a timely manner.
- Accurately explains food orders to cooks, with specific attention to allergies and special requests.
- Upholds our food health, safety, and sanitation principles.
- Occasionally checks on customers to handle any impromptu requests or issues
- Cleans tables and removes dishes after the party leaves
- Carries loads of soiled dishes to the dishwasher to be cleaned
- Ensure availability of clean dishes, flatware, glasses, straws, napkins, and other dining materials
- Informs management of customer feedback
- Deals with complaints or problems with a positive attitude
- Issues bills and accepts payment
- Handles cash transactions with customers using cash registers
- Issues receipts, refunds, change or tickets, and redeems coupons
- Keeps reports of transactions
- Resolves customer complaints guides them and provides relevant information
- Maintains clean and tidy checkout areas
- Bags, boxes, or wraps food packages
- Promotes dedication from customers
OTHER DUTIES:
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by your supervisor
COMPUTER EQUIPMENT & SOFTWARE SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- The ability to utilize Google Drive and Gmail for sending emails
- Full knowledge of Restaurant Point of Sale (POS) systems like Toast
- Use of scheduling software
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Education: A high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) is required.
Experience: A minimum of one to two (1-2) years of professional work experience as a Food Runner, Busser, Cashier, or a similar role is required.
Certification(s): Relevant certification (e.g. ServeSafe) is required
§ Meets State minimum age to serve alcohol.
§ Available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Education: A high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) is required.
Experience: Three or more (3+) years of professional work experience as a Food Runner, Busser, Cashier, or a similar role is preferred. Experience in the food and beverage industry (with a chain of restaurants) is highly preferred. Additional education, training, certificates, or experience is highly preferred.
Certification(s): Relevant certification (e.g. ServeSafe) is preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. On occasion it may be necessary to do the following:

§ This position may also require occasional travel to other company locations if necessary
