Frontline Team Member - Men’s Overnight Dorm
Evening Shifts (3:30 – midnight) and Overnight Shifts (midnight – 8:30 a.m.)
Knox Area Rescue Ministries (KARM) is an emergency shelter for men and women who are hungry and have no other place to sleep at night. KARM also offers transitional programs available to men and women seeking help to overcome the challenged areas of their lives. All services are offered out of an abundance of true Christian hospitality, provided by trained staff and volunteers.
KARM is currently seeking Frontline Team Members for Men’s Overnight Dorm – full time positions and PRN positions available.
Our Frontline Team Members create a safe, respectful and hospitable environment in which basic necessities of life are provided to support the care of our guests.
Duties include monitoring the overnight dorms, directing the work of our guests in cleaning and maintenance responsibilities, monitoring showers to ensure all guests shower nightly, assigning beds and ensuring the dorm remains a safe environment for our guests to sleep. The best part of the Frontline Team Member position is being able to share God’s love and usher our guests into His presence.
Requirements of the position include ability to share the Gospel and demonstrate Christian values and beliefs when interacting with our guests. Frontline Team Members lead with a basic understanding of mental illness, alcohol and drug issues, physical and sexual abuse, and poverty, specifically in regard to communicating with guests affected by these. Also, Frontline Team Members know how to identify and respond to a crisis, and how to defuse tense situations.
Frontline Team Members will possess competent Microsoft Office applications skills, the ability to give direction to others, and a high degree of flexibility and resourcefulness. CPR and Basic First Aid desired but not required. Two to three years related experience preferred.
The Frontline Team Member positions are at our facility in downtown Knoxville where emergency rescue services are provided. There can be exposure to stressful client situations that require compassion and discernment. Walking, standing, sitting, bending and minimal lifting required.
