General Machinist at Olin Corporation

Olin Corporation is a leading vertically-integrated global manufacturer and distributor of chemical products and a leading U.S. manufacturer of ammunition.  The chemical products produced include chlorine and caustic soda, vinyls, epoxies, chlorinated organics, bleach and hydrochloric acid.  Winchester, with its principal manufacturing facilities in East Alton, IL and Oxford, MS, produces and distributes sporting ammunition, law enforcement ammunition, reloading components, small caliber military ammunition and components, and industrial cartridges.

Olin Corporation’s Winchester Division has a General Machinist - hourly opportunity located at its East Alton, IL facility.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS (not all inclusive)

• Candidate must be at least 18 years old. 

• Minimum of 5 years recent related heavy industrial/maintenance experience or a 4-year related apprenticeship certification required. Recent related experience within a fast-pace manufacturing environment preferred.

• Excellent attendance and safety record.

• Must follow Work Instructions and Job Safety Practices.

• Manual conventional lathes/mills, boring mills, machine shop equipment, and repair work required.

• Strong math and blueprint reading.

• Ability to utilize various hand tools such as wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, and sledgehammers.

• Individual must be able to climb ladders, enter confined spaces, work at heights, in weather elements, and extreme temperatures.

• A complete employment application that explains a detailed work history required.

• Ability to work in a fast pace manufacturing facility required. 

• Individual must be multi-tasking, detail-oriented, and have the ability to work in a team environment.

• Must be able to lift and carry 100+ lbs.

• Current schedule is rotating 3 shifts. Individual must be willing to work rotating 3-shifts, straight shifts, weekends, and forced overtime.  

BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (not all inclusive)

• Troubleshoot, repair, and disassemble/reassemble machinery.

• Perform preventative maintenance.

• Machine parts as needed.

• Interpret schematics and equipment manuals.

• Assist with process improvement and initiate change.

• Perform quality work in a safe and productive manner.

• For this position, the wage is $35.39 an hour.
