Position Summary: Provides financial leadership and accountability for the Company Aerospace Group. Ensures that the Group’s finance and accounting systems conform to governmental requirements, Sarbanes-Oxley, Corporate criteria, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Leads the planning, communication and implementation of a group-wide black book financial plan, aligned to the Group’s strategic plan. Guide and coordinate the financial and control activities of Company Aerospace Division Controllers to protect assets, meet and provide timely, meaningful reporting of division and group operations. Scope/Supervision and Interaction: Under the direction of the Group President, Corporate Vice President and Controller and other members of the staff of the Corporate Vice President Finance & CFO has leadership responsibility for the Group Finance and Accounting staff and functional responsibility for Division Controllers. Essential Functions: Develops group financial objectives and needs including short and long-range programs and formulates plans to meet those objectives. As a member of group staff, actively participates in reviewing and approving division operating and strategic plans. Prepares and presents group operating and strategic plans. Consults and maintains effective communication with group staff and division management. Ensures the capability for satisfying current and future accounting requirements. Ensures timely and accurate reporting of results which are properly interpreted. Evaluates the impact and application of externally imposed requirements in areas of financial and management accounting and reporting, auditing, financial analysis, budgeting and financial planning. Establishes policies, procedures and systems (including cost accounting) to effectively record, accumulate, analyze and report all financial matters in accordance with GAAP and appropriate government procurement regulations. Ensures protection of assets and their proper utilization by determining that approved control and accounting policies are in effect throughout the group. Provides guidance and leadership in the evaluation and implementation of acquisitions and divestitures. Coordinates the identification, review, and due diligence of potential acquisitions. Manages acquisition integration for the financial area, including coordination with corporate staff departments and plans and monitors transition to corporate policy. Recommends areas which should be audited and assists in the development of internal audit programs. Reviews internal audit results with group management. Provides principal communications between the group, divisions and corporate financial staff. Participates in selection, training and performance of each division controller. Develops a management development program with each division controller. Oversees adequate staffing of all accounting positions which entails ensuring that technically qualified personnel are in place in all positions and reviews succession plans for division controllers annually. Manages group budgets within established guidelines. Reviews and evaluates investments in all operating assets. Conducts effective department staff and division controllers' meetings on a regular basis. Develops accounting staff employees and evaluates work performance. Applies performance leadership techniques to assure positive employee relations. Explains and supports company policies and procedures. Ensures that proper training and development programs are available for the accounting organization. Administers the proper reporting of all incentive programs, including all special bonus programs. Performs other related responsibilities as required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting. MBA, or professional designation as CPA or CMA preferred. Fifteen or more years of increasingly responsible finance/accounting experience, including five years experience as a Controller in the Aerospace industry or equivalent. Significant government accounting experience strongly preferred. Strong leadership attributes with the ability to motivate and lead significant change processes with and through others. Current knowledge of lean enterprise, kaizen and value streaming principles. Specific knowledge of productivity and standardization techniques and measurements. Demonstrated teamwork and team building skills in producing results and meeting organizational strategies and objectives. Capable of assessing and developing individual and team skills, competencies and capabilities. Understands current information technology, systems and business applications related to customer interface; is proficient with project management software and data analysis tools. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with internal and external contacts. Has persuasive presentation skills.
