Job Title: Founding Head of SchoolOur School: A Miami-area independent school seeks a creative and innovative school administrator to partner with School leadership to become its first Head of School. The School will begin with a single Pre-K classroom for the 2019-2020 academic year and plans to expand to add classrooms and grade levels in subsequent years. Position Summary: The Founding Head of School should possess an entrepreneurial spirit and both the ability and the willingness to manage all aspects of the day-to-day operations of a new and growing school and collaborate in establishing short-term and long-term goals. The person hired for this position will be expected to: Support, model, and communicate the mission of the School.In collaboration with School leadership, provide guidance on long-range strategic planning. Create and lead a school culture that maintains a focus on innovation, a positive student experience, and academic success.Manage the development of an innovative academic program designed to provide the optimal learning environment for a diverse group of learners.Attract, recruit, motivate, support, and manage a diverse, creative, and collaborative faculty.Oversee the School’s business and financial affairs, including formulating an annual budget, managing the School’s resources, and meeting financial goals. Partner with School leadership in developing and administering operating and personnel policies. Maintain an “open door” policy for staff, creating an environment of open dialogue and innovation.Establish and strengthen connections with students, parents, and families. Represent the School to various internal and external constituencies and provide consistent communication, both within the School and with all stakeholders. Lead the student admissions process.Develop and implement tools for measuring outcomes and evaluating programs. Continue to reevaluate programs, strategies, and teaching methods to promote student success and the overall success of the School. Engage in meaningful professional development.Assume responsibility for other projects as assigned by School leadership. Advanced degree in education or management field preferred.Experience in administration of an independent elementary school preferred.Excellent communication and collaborative skills.A willingness to collaborate with fellow teachers, School leadership, and parents.
