HEAD START DIRECTOR (HS)
Responsibilities: The Head Start Program Director coordinates all functions of the programs, provides leadership, supervises, and reports the CEO. Work in planning, designing, implementing and evaluating program systems and in representing the agency in local, regional, state and national communities. The Head Start Program Director is responsible for assuring that all program mandates and regulations are met on a daily basis. This position develops the structure, systems and procedures that align with the mandates and regulations, and ensures that policies are carried out throughout the program. In addition to operational functions, the Director stays knowledgeable of fiscal, legal, and programmatic aspects of the programs. The position endures the leadership and responsibility of assuring that the program is strategically positioned for the future.
Qualifications: Master’s degree with a concentration in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Social Work, or a related field. Five years of experience in Head Start programming and administration, including systems development. Leadership experience in a Head Start program of comparable size. Strong skills in Head Start program planning, monitoring and management. Experience working with a nonprofit organization . Strong understanding of the Head Start grant application process and reporting systems (ChildPlus), with proven success in securing funding. Experience in leading significant, forward-looking change initiatives. Bilingual/Spanish required.
