Linde is currently seeking a Plant Manager-PGP to join the team in the Hammond, IN area.
Purpose of the Position:
Manage the safe and efficient distribution and production of high pressure, industrial, medical, specialty gases, as well as healthcare operations and cylinder maintenance. Manage the safe and efficient cylinder distribution to LifeGas (if applicable), Linde PGP facilities, distributors, LifeGas direct markets, and Caribbean (if applicable), Canada (if applicable) operating plant. Working closely with sales, marketing and external customers to provide Industrial Gases in full, on time and in spec.
— Coach, lead and motivate plant employees around operational and safety objectives.
— Responsible for managing plant operations including cylinder filling, cylinder maintenance, plant maintenance and distribution.
—Manage LifeGas (healthcare and homecare), Distributor and Interbranch Supply Chain customer service, operations and distribution.
— Optimize cylinder retest department to meet internal and external customer requirements and demand.
—Implement operational objectives and KPI’s within the plant in terms of productivity, efficiency, and customer service and on-time performance.
—Responsible for setting operating budgets.
—Manage the day-to-day costs of operations and financial impact of the plant
—Responsible for overall plant P/L (shared P&L responsibility between Markets and Supply Chain)
—Analyze current financial and operational strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and constraints in order to develop, prepare, and implement goals, projects, and policies that will enable the plant to achieve a competitive advantage in the market.
— Responsible for the safe operation of the facility including training in safety, Traccess, LiMss and HQAA
procedures as well as medical GMP’s and DOT requirements.
— Ensures all safety, quality, regulatory, accreditation procedures and policies are implemented and staff appropriately trained.
— Focused safety efforts around production, practical training and global standards with Acetylene products.
—Provide technical support to sales, marketing, customer service, and external customers.
— Continually evaluate plant staffing and employee development to establish a cross-functional team that is focused on continual improvement. Develop and establish a plant training program that meets the development needs of the plant. Provide open and honest feedback during the performance management process.
—Understand the daily work requirement of the plant for optimal plant performance and the tools need to monitor your place on the maturity road map and be able to develop a plan to become leading.
— Coordinates with sales on a regular basis with existing and new business to effectively support the growth strategy of the company, according to an agreed upon product service offering.
— Maintains strong customer service focus for all plant employees; develops and monitors distribution schedules to ensure customers are served in a timely manner; stay close to customer by maintaining and developing relationships with customers.
— Drives change positively, by recognizes it as opportunity to become a high performing organization. Uses tools to help implement and sustain change such as HPO Project Management, Gap Initiative, LEAN, Six Sigma, Leadsite Audits, Basic Problems Solving etc.
— Actively listens to staff input concerning daily operations to ensure staff members are aware of situations that may affect their work.
—Maintains professional growth by participating on teams and in educational programs and activities to maintain knowledge of national trends and to promote leading-edge expertise within the plant.
— Ensures specific federal, provincial and local employment qualifications are met.
—Bachelor Degree engineering or business preferred
—Minimum 5 Years supervisory/management experience in compressed gas field
— Minimum five years industry-related experience with supervisory experience required
—Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
— Advanced general word processing and spreadsheet skills.
— Good knowledge of a wide range of SAP transactions.
— Problem solving skills.
— Good coaching and interpersonal skills.
—Preferred with emphasis on business/operational management; industrial/medical distribution or related field
— Operations/production/distribution and safety management experience
— Ability to work with limited supervision and achieve results
— Must be detail oriented and a selfstarter
— Must possess Financial awareness
— Ability to lead by example
— Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of internal staff and customer organizations
— Ability to prioritize and manage in a crisis
— Creative problem solving abilities required
— Ability to coach employees to achieve results
— Excellent computer skills with experience in MS Office Tools and SAP preferred
