HR BENEFITS ANALYST I (16-037)
This position will participate in the day-to-day operations of group benefit programs (group medical, dental, life insurance, short and long term disability, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) and Pension plans (Final average earnings and Cash Balance). Participates in the design of employee benefit plans and ensures that these plans operate according to plan documents and government regulations. Provides analytical and technical support in the delivery of the benefit programs. Provides excellent customer service.
Handles daily benefit processing and resolves discrepancies. Acts as a liaison between employee, insurance providers and consultants to resolve benefit related issues and/or concerns.
Manages and administers short term and long term disability programs while maintaining compliance standards and eligibility requirements. Oversees an employee returning to work coordinating with Health Services and employee’s manager on restrictions that may require accommodation
Assist, advise, and counsel employees, retirees and dependents on day-to-day benefit-related questions (via email, phone and walk-ups) and refers to applicable vendor as appropriate.
Coordinates and leads benefit plan audits.
Responsible for ensuring accuracy of premium calculations, accruals and deduction. Also responsible for setting and changing deductions as necessary in the benefits, payroll, and HRIS system. Works with HR Staff Specialist HRIS lead to implement system enhancements and changes required to support benefit plan revisions or the implementation of new plans.
Responsible for the reconciliation of benefit premium reports with vendor invoices, and ensures timely and accurate payment of premiums. Partners with appropriate Vendors to maintain accurate benefit reconciliations.
Conduct presentations for benefit orientations and open enrollment.
Coordinates new and annual enrollment processes.
Prepares detailed statistical and analytical reports as requested. This includes plan data, employee participation, eligibility data, benefit cost trending, etc.
Monitors benefit trends in the business environment and stay abreast of applicable benefits legislation.
Demonstrates knowledge of FMLA and experience handling the FMLA process
Prepare and maintain employee benefit files, ensuring accuracy, compliance and confidentially.
Maintain integrity of eligibility enrollments within HRIS.
Processes invoices, ensures necessary supplies are available and will be required to do some administrative task.
May be assigned other tasks as needed
The HR Benefit Analyst I requires a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Business Administration or related degree or a high school diploma (or GED equivalent) and 8 years related experience. Related experience is defined as experience with compensation or benefits, payroll/invoicing or business support.
HR Certifications are preferred
Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel necessary.
Must have knowledge of Peoplesoft HRIS system and EmpCenter Timekeeping software.
Highly collaborative style and strong team orientation with demonstrated written, verbal and presentation skills.
Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple high-priorities in a fast-paced, loosely structured environment.
Proven attention to detail and commitment to quality.
