Working collaboratively with the Human Resources Manager at an enterprise level, the HR Generalist will be responsible for administering leaves of absences in accordance with federal/state laws and University policies in particular FMLA, CFRA, PDL, FEHA and ADA while exercising the interactive process. He or she will provide any and all necessary support to his or her respective Service Line Managers and/or Staff in regards to standards and all policies and procedures such as performance evaluations, layoffs, re-organizations and department conversions. The HR Generalist will participate in various surveys to ensure compliance with the various agencies such as The Joint Commission, Client, EPA, etc. Additionally he or she may provide guidance in union negotiations, employee partnership survey, and will instruct an array of leadership trainings regarding leaves of absences.
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or a related field.
One to two years experience in Human Resources.
Ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult and emotional issues.
The ability to research and analyze various types of data.
Must have the ability to make recommendations to effective resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law.
Ability to organize and prioritize work.
Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred
REPRESENTATIVE FUNCTIONS OR DUTIES:
Partners with employees and management to communicate various Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, standards and government regulations.
Participates in developing department goals, objectives, processes and systems.
Assists in administering compensation program; monitors performance evaluation program and revises as necessary.
Performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, and communicating benefit information to employees.
Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars. Maintains hospital organization charts and employee directory.
Maintains Human Resource Information System records (including licenses and training certifications), compiles reports from database and notifies appropriate management of potential delinquencies.
Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
Interviews, screens, and recruits job applicants to fill select entry level, professional and technical job openings.
Reviews applications and interviews applicants to match experience with specific job related requirements.
Recruits and onboards volunteers.
Responds to employee relation issues such as employee complaints and harassment allegations.
Facilitates and/or provides training (including customer service and new employee orientation) to the workforce.
Conducts exit interviews and analyzes data and makes recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement.
Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs.
Represents the hospital for any unemployment claims.
Responds to select EEOC charges.
Schedules hospital volunteers into various department assignments.
Maintains data base of volunteer competencies
