InHarvest, a premiere rice and grain provider headquartered in Woodland, CA is seeking an Industrial Ingredient Sales Specialist to manage and grow a portfolio of clients in the US and abroad. As part of the Industrial Sales team, this position will require working with major food companies to provide technical and service support on sales of specialty grains for use in food manufacturing.
This position will surpass annual budget and margin goals by growing current client sales and making initial contacts to obtain new accounts for the company. The target customer base are major name manufacturers in the food and beverage industry. Interaction will center on Food Scientists as well as contacts in Purchasing, R&D, Manufacturing and QA in developing new products and applications using a range of Specialty Grain products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES
Develop and maintain long-term relationships with customers. Grow sales and develop new accounts.
Sell based on value and solutions.
Manage relationships with brokers and keep account of their performance. Understanding and maintain working knowledge of international sales processes.
Manage a sales budget of accounts and effectively influence cost control, planning, scheduling and procedural change.
Work alongside others or independently to complete projects. Prospect and close new accounts; maintain, service and grow existing customers.
Work independently with technical and purchasing functions of large food manufacturers as well as broker partners. Communicate with purchasing and logistics functions of customer companies to
create accurate forecasts.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor s degree with a concentration in Business or other related field; and/or equivalent experience
Knowledge of Food Science and experience with Technical Sales.
Minimum five years direct experience in field sales or technical sales required in food ingredients (grains preferred) or a closely related industry, along with a track record of success in positions held; and/or equivalent education
3 years experience selling agricultural goods or commodities to overseas markets, preferred. Other international commerce experience is valued.
Relationship-building skills, technical savvy, and creativity Strong planning, scheduling and organizational skills.
Ability to find and work to remove roadblocks.
