Working under the direction of the Manager of Industry Marketing, will be responsible for contributing to the marketing and sales of MathWorks’ sophisticated engineering products to customers in the Oil and Natural Gas, Chemical, and Petroleum industries; designing and developing sophisticated software product models and simulations to demonstrate MathWorks’ technical computing and model-based design product capabilities for use in the chemical and petroleum industry; developing technical engineering demonstrations of MathWorks’ technical computing and model-based design software to support the company’s industry marketing activities; gathering customer software requirements to inform development and customization of the technical computing and model-based design product experience; developing and implementing strategy for the Chemical and Petroleum segments including target customers and researchers, messaging and content, and product gaps; understanding technology roadmaps for customers and the opportunity for MathWorks tool adoption through research and customer visits; leading engagement with key companies, researchers and influencers in the Chemical and Petroleum segments; and engaging with the Chemical and Petroleum community through participation at conferences and industry events and serving as the segment spokesperson for MathWorks. Requires frequent travel and on short notice.
Position may be located at MathWorks’ offices in either Natick, Massachusetts or Plano, Texas.
Education and Experience:
Master’s degree or higher (or foreign education equivalent) in Engineering and one (1) year of experience in job offered or one (1) year of experience supporting technical engineering workflows in the chemical and petroleum industry.
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Engineering and five (5) years of experience in job offered or five (5) years of experience supporting technical engineering workflows in the chemical and petroleum industry.
- Demonstrated expertise using process modeling software -- Hysys, Aspen Plus, and ROMEO -- to design process equipment including reactors, heat exchangers, pumps, and compressors.
- Demonstrated expertise using MATLAB and Simulink for modeling and simulation within the chemical and petroleum industry.
- Demonstrated expertise performing market research analysis, competitive assessment analysis, and gap analysis in target market segments -- oil and gas, petrochemical, industrial gases, commodity, inorganics, and polymers -- within the chemical and petroleum industry.
- Demonstrated expertise developing marketing and sales presentation materials, including business case analysis and workflows to drive organizational alignment on new product offerings and inform conversations with stakeholders on strategic marketing and sales planning.
