PAY PLAN: 114 - $ 34,121.00 per year
QUALIFICATIONS: Completed one (1) year of nursing vocational school and obtained a current license in Vocational Nursing with the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners. One (1) year of experience in a nursing setting (clinical or hospital); Must have CPR certification. Knowledge of documenting entries of all physical assessments and activity in medical record and services on a daily log. Ability to communicate to infirmary nurses on patient conditions in a detailed manner. Forwarding and notifying physician of all lab, X-ray, and new medical orders received. Filing and placing additional paperwork into medical file. Ability to assist in monthly quality assurance data collection and provide input to improve daily clinical activities. Ability to follow up with lab work, medical orders and refer patients to jail physician or outside doctor's orders. Knowledge of use of medical equipment, computer, and accessories. Must have a valid Texas Driver's License, comply with State of Texas Driving Laws, and maintain an acceptable driving record. Employees of Cameron County may be required to work during any natural disasters or emergency. Criminal background check is required for employment or continued employment.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Under the direction of the Supervisor of Communications; Receives regular and routine technical nursing duties and assists with other related duties involving Patient care. Assesses emergency situations in a competent manner. Works under the Jail Physician in accordance with medical directives and Jail Physician's standing delegation orders; Sees inmates on a daily basis evaluating physical status, documenting findings, and follow-throughs with medical orders; Performs other duties as assigned. This is not a Civil Service covered position.
